The Day Our Nanny Went Missing Part 1

One Friday morning, we were busy getting ready for work when we received a text message from our nanny that she will not be coming to work. My husband and I looked at each other blankly. “Now what?” We couldn’t just leave our daughter at home with her grand father; he’ll be too stressed out. Both my husband and I have pending things to do at the office and we just couldn’t go on leave. We had no other choice but to bring Bea with us to the office.

On our way, we were discussing whether who will take Bea to the office. We decided that I would just drop by my office to submit my pending report then we’d head on over to hubby’s office where I will take care of our daughter, while hubby goes about his day.

This is a great idea, theoretically, but an entirely different matter in reality. My daughter’s feeding problem has been the primary source of tension in our family. My patience can only be stretched so much. My daughter and I often have shouting matches about this. Why can’t she just open her mouth and drink her milk? At four years old, milk is still her primary source of nutrition and she is still not taking it willingly.

The moment of truth: Breakfast. I fixed her milk and started to feed her…. To no avail. She kept on protesting, her arms flailing up and down, side to side, preventing the milk from reaching her mouth. And then it happened… miracles of miracles, my Bea simply said “ara (kutsara) na lang Mommy” (let’s just use the spoon Mommy).

I started scooping the milk, and she opened her mouth willingly! OMG! We finished our

glass within 30 minutes. (We used to spend 3 hours to down 1 glass, and sometimes we can’t even finish everything). This day made me believe that prayers can truly move mountains! Everybody has been praying for our Bea to get over her feeding problem, or at least for our feeding sessions to stop being the battle it often is. Thank you Lord!

Though this day started off at the wrong foot, it is slowly becoming one of the best days of my life…

To be continued…

Taking Public Transportation with my Daughter

Ever since Bea was a baby, we’ve had a car or van to ride in so getting from one point to another wasn’t a problem for us. But I feel that as a parent, it is my resposibility to expose her to new things. So I thought as part of Bea’s education, she should experience taking public transportation too, so she won’t feel left out when friends and classmates talk about riding the pedicab or the jeepney.

So far, we’ve ridden the jeepney to buy milk at the nearby Mercury Drug Store and we’ve ridden the pedicab from the corner of our village to our house. We’ve also ridden the taxi and FX several times already. We rode the MRT once from Cubao Station to Ayala Station and then back again to Cubao Station. She enjoyed this immensely! We flew on an airplane to and from Cebu and we rode a ferry boat to Bohol and back. There are only two other public transportations we’ve yet ride: the tricycle and the bus.

Hubby warned Bea that she will never ever ever be allowed to ride a motorcycle. She must have deduced that motorcycles are dangerous, so she’s not that keen on riding the motorcycle’s cousin, the tricycle. But whenever she sees a bus, she gets all excited. She keeps on asking me when we’ll ride one. Hopefully, we’ll get a chance soon.

sunday afternoon...

after lunch, Bea was already excited, she knew we were going out!

she wasn't able to sleep until we left for the mall. probably she was afraid she'd be left behind. when she heard daddy start the van, she was so excited, wanting to get in immediately. =) while on the way to the mall, she kept on babbling "beabeabeabea"... a little narcissistic i know, but heck, she's just a baby! =)

when we got to the mall, daddy bought bea the toy of her dreams... a little barney doll that sings whenever its tummy is pressed. Bea was ecstatic!

we also let her try those rides where you put in a token and the ride will move for SECONDS. hehehe. little bea was so enthralled with the first ride, a jeep! like daddy, like baby, she liked the idea of driving, although on the second time, she lost interest already and wanted to get off. then daddy put her on the ride where the seat is attached to a big wheel that goes round... on this ride she got afraid. too bad.

then we let her and yaya play in My Playroom, she was again so excited, there were so many toys!

by the time we got home, bea was so tired that she fell asleep in the van... another tiring but fun, fun, fun time....
